My Comments on Seasons
Well, this is how it works: Below is every Red Dwarf season. I tell you my comments. Pretty straight forward. Here it is! NOTE: If you have not seen all the episodes in all of the seasons, then you probablly won't understand some of my comments.
Season ONE
The very first season of Red Dwarf was pretty if-y for being the debut season of the show. It was funny, and sciecne fiction-y, but it was basically the same thing every show. I don't think they didn't enough in season one. All they did was stay on the ship. I did, however, enjoy the six episodes. They had humor, drama, and sci-fi stuff. Many of the episodes, especially the first few where very interesting. That thing in The End about the stasis thing, that was cool! :P I gave this season 16 out of 30 stars.
Season TWO
Season two was a huge comedy relief from season one. I really liked how they started to do more things than just stay in bed in the sleeping quarters. I think the addition of Kryten was a good start for the show's second round. Better Than Life was fabulous. Again, I liked how the dwarfers did more that just sit on their butts. The same thing applies to Stasis Leak. And then Holly, he's hillarious! Once again, the crew venture out of the sleeping quarters and meet female (and dog) versions of themselves! A very good season, season two was. That's why I give it a near-perfect score of 26 out of 30 stars!
Season THREE
The return of Kryten made Red Dwarf go on a turn for the best. He added comedy and intellectual hinderings to the show. The crew started doing weirded, and wackier things every show. Polymorph was great! That was, in my opinion, the best episode in a long time. Season number three brought more and more comedy, but at the same time, gained more of a science-fiction-y touch. Season three gets 19 out of 30 stars.
Season FOUR
I must say, that at the beginning of season four, I really thought that this would be the worst season yet. The first shows were just horrible. In Camille, the Cassablanca thing was funny, but not that funny. However, later in the series, when Ace Rimmer came, I was prooved wrong. Then a follow-up of blowing the crap out of world famous peace makers in Melt Down, well, that was just plain side-splittingly funny! Due to the good and bad episodes, season four gets a pretty average score of 20 out of 30 stars.
Season FIVE
Season five wasn't my favorite season, but that's not to say I didn't like it. I loved Quarantine and Back to Reality. I mean, how do you beat Rimmer in a dress? And, just the thought of the Cat wearing pocket-protectors. Now, that's just sick! :P Also, I just can't help myself when I hear Kryten say, "Blasted stupid cheap damn stupid Martian power packs." Series five had some ups and downs; some good shows, and some pretty bad shows. Nevertheless, I give it 22 out of 30 stars.
Season SIX
Other than Rimmerworld, Season Six was a pretty darn good season. I liked how the boys started going places again, like venturing out to the abandoned space station, meeting Legion. Gunman of the Appocalypse was great. And, Out of Time is my all time favorite episode. (It's also the first one I ever saw) Since I liked it so much, I give season six 23 out of 30 stars.
Season SEVEN
Season seven, as some say was the worst season of Red Dwarf, ever. I, on the other hand, compleatly disagree with them! Season sevev was a great season. I mean, they mess up the Kennedy assassination, they meet Ace Rimmer again, Rimmer replaces him, Kochanski comes to their universe, they get caught in the air ducts, the Cat and Lister find it's fun to watch Kochanski's panties in the wash machine, Kryten realizes he has grown beyond a joke, Lister contracts the epideme virus, and they find Red Dwarf. That's just a little bit of the list. As you can see, I really liked series seven. So much that I give it 30 out of 40 stars. You'll notice that there are now 40 stars because there are 2 additional episodes.
Season EIGHT
Season Eight, quite possibly the final season of Red Dwarf, was not my favorite. I did like it, but to much stuff changed. Lister, especially. I mean, what is this clean jump suite crap? What happened to the piggish slob, Lister we all know and love? To me, he just wasn't the same as before. Rimmer changed a lot, too. He used to respect senior officials, but now he seemed to be more like Lister. (That sounds really weird, doesn't it?) I'm thinking that maybe he realized that he would never be of any importants in his life, he just gave up, and decided to have some fun. I think that the previous season addition of Kristine Kochanski was vital to the show. She created humor and, another thing to boost the ratings, it seemed like she was out of her clothes at least once an episode! Anyway, I guess season eight was pretty good. I don't think it was the best way to end the show (most likely). I give this season 27 out of 35 stars. (There are only 35 stars because I have not yet seen Back in the Red part 3.)
