Today’s outing was a hike up Mt. Democrat and Mt. Cameron with a couple friends.  The plan was to follow the Democrat/Cameron/Lincoln/Bross combo route around as far as we felt like.

Met up at the US-285 and Twin Forks park-and-ride at about five minutes after five A.M. and then took one car on to the Kite Lake trailhead.  Started the hike about 7 A.M.

Conditions were generally good, although quite windy at the saddle and exposed sections of the Democrat east ridge.  Summited Democrat around 10 A.M. and then proceeded down along the ridge and up to Cameron.  We decided to return to the trailhead from Cameron via the same route, and arrived back at the trailhead at approximately 3 P.M.

The short stretch from Cameron to Lincoln appeared straightforward.  Several folks who returned from Lincoln while we were on Cameron estimated that the trip took them about 30 minutes.

The ridge road between Cameron and Bross looked very nice.  Quite level and a wide path.  However, one report of the trail up to Bross was very steep and very windy.  It definitely does seem like the “clock-wise” loop is easier than going up Bross first.
